Jan Charles Biro Biography

Jan Charles Biro (b.1950) grew up in Europe on European cultural, social and religious traditions. He became a physician with
unusual affection and talents for medical research. He decided at the age of 29 to move to Stockholm, take a position at the Royal
Karolinska Hospital and start his research at the Royal Karolinska Institute. The Karolinska's reputation as an eminent research
institute, its association with the Royal Family and the prestigious Nobel Prize, was an irresistible attraction for a young ambitious
doctor. He became, in time, a Swedish Citizen, professor, married, and fathered two well-made (very Swedish) kids.

However, Sweden changed a lot during that time.

Biro moved to the USA in 2002 and became very successful in his new country. He wrote numerous influential scientific articles
and reviews in his field, which most recently is computational and theoretical biology, and filed several patents. He completed
Nirenberg's Genetic Code, work that has extremely high scientific and biotechnological potential. Biro was honored with US
permanent residency in 2006 as a person with exceptional ability in US National Interest.

Biro, head of the Homulus Foundation, graduated MD at the Karolinska Hospital and PhD at the Karolinska Institute (Stockholm,
Sweden), where he is honorary professor in experimental endocrinology. He has written 100+ scientific publications, 8 patents and
patent applications. A member of numerous scientific societies, he regularly referees articles for bioinformatics journals.

Recently, his main interest has been in computational and theoretical biology, focusing on his discovery of the Proteomic Code
and Nucleic Acid Chaperons.
